Wootton Fitzpaine

Starting in the little hamlet of Wootton Fitzpaine, pass the village hall and Old Rectory to find the church and Wootton Manor, hidden from the rest of the village. Climb up Conegar Hill for views across the Marshwood Vale and out to sea, a special spot for a couple’s eternal rest. Follow the high ridge to the old Manor and gates of Catherston Leweston. Dip down to find the Monkton Wyld Stream as it flows by to meet the River Char as well as the bustling A35. Follow the river upstream, along its banks and over bridges, tracing the route of an old road quashed by the new, to return to Wootton Fitzpaine.
